Before…after

  • The Graduate Center , CUNY 365 5th Avenue New York, NY, 10016 United States (map)

Before…after is a two part exhibition of the work of Elva Mulchrone, visual artist and Fulbright Scholar to the Graduate Center CUNY. Through paper, wood, canvas, linen and video Mulchrone’s pieces in Before, exploring medium and colour, feature disconnected and obstructed mapping, which allude to both personal narratives and photographs made by children who face social immobility and inequality from multiple perspectives.

After is her preliminary affective response, on paper, to the totality of the extraordinary variety and depth of research at the Graduate Center, her conversations with esteemed Professors and her affective response creatively to being in the hub of NYC and personally experiencing its striking inequalities, sounds, vibrations and social climate.

Buzz is an abstract video piece resulting from a collaborative project with Peter Milo, responding to the work of Brett Stoudt, Public Science Project and The Morris Justice Project.

Mulchrone would particularly like to thank Professors Wendy Luttrell, Peter Eckersall, Michelle Fine and Brett Stoudt for sharing their research and time.
