At day’s end, the whole sky, refers its title from a poem by Denise Levertov, In California.

At day’s end, in whatever society we find ourselves living in, and whatever decisions have been made, and systems we navigate…we are left with the whole sky… wistful for an understanding… with an uneasy ever present…

At day’s end, the whole sky, brings together the work of Elva Mulchrone and Brian Duggan, two artists who approach their respective visual art practices in different ways, but with a common approach to rigorous research, examination of contemporary concerns and a commitment to a visual exploration of their understanding of such.

The historic rooms of Rathfarnham Castle add a unique dimension to the works which speak of questionable systems, mapping and charting of elements invisible to the eye but always in the background of our lives and alluded to by the artists abstraction and interpretation.

Both artists have exhibited their work, in solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally and received numerous bursaries and awards. They are both represented in important public and private collections.

This exhibition offers a visual perspective of an energetic conversation on contemporary Irish art presenting video, sound, sculpture and painting.
